Our Story

A Family's Passion
for the Land

In 1995, Joseph Macari Jr. began his lifelong dream of transforming a former potato farm into a world-class vineyard. Working alongside his father, Joseph Sr., they planted the first vines on 500 acres of pristine North Fork farmland in Mattituck, New York.
Today, Macari Vineyards is led by the second generation, with Joseph Jr.’s children—Gabriella, Edward, and Thomas—carrying forward the family legacy. The estate practices biodynamic and sustainable farming, believing that great wine begins with healthy soil and a deep respect for nature’s rhythms.
The vineyard’s unique location—surrounded by Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay—creates a maritime climate ideal for producing elegant, food-friendly wines with bright acidity and complex flavor profiles.

We don't just grow grapes—we cultivate an ecosystem. Every decision we make is guided by what's best for the land, the vines, and ultimately, the wine in your glass.
