Years of Winemaking
Pioneers of the North Fork
Founded in 1980 by Kip Bedell, one of the original visionaries of Long Island wine, Bedell Cellars has grown from a modest 14-acre homestead into one of the most respected wineries on the East Coast. The estate's original merlot vines, planted in the early 1980s, remain among the oldest and most prized on the North Fork.
In 2000, the property was acquired by Michael Lynne, former co-chairman of New Line Cinema, who expanded the estate to 75 acres and invested in state-of-the-art winemaking facilities. Today, under the leadership of winemaker Rich Olsen-Harbich, Bedell continues to push boundaries with innovative, terroir-driven wines that have earned critical acclaim nationwide.
Great wine is made in the vineyard, not the winery. Our job is to listen to what the land is telling us and translate that into something beautiful in the bottle.
